FAQ's

Are lessons required to be weekly?

No, lessons at Joey’s Studio are pay-as-you-go. If you only want lessons twice per week, then you only need to let us know. If you only want to take a lesson now and again, then you only need to let us know. Weekly lessons are a standard practice that can be adjusted.

Do I need to buy the Percussion Kit to start lessons?

The Percussion Kit is not necessary for lessons; I have the equipment for that.

Do I need to buy the Percussion Kit for band class?

The Percussion Kit is necessary for band classes because that's the equipment the students will use during class.

Will my child have to bring the Percussion Kit to and from home every day?

Taking the Percussion Kit home every day is optional. However, the students are expected to take the Percussion Kit on Friday’s and before vacations.

Why do I need the Wooden Keyboard? Why can’t I buy the Metal Keyboard?

The Wooden Keyboard, Xylophone, is designed for the student to use throughout their years in band for competition practice. The Metal Keyboard, Bells, is useless from 7th grade and impractical for long term practice and use.

Why do I have to buy the Percussion Kit if my child will only be using it for 1 year?

Normally, the equipment in the Percussion Kit is supposed to last for 1 decade…hypothetically. In all honesty, it can last a lot longer with proper care; I use mine to give lessons after 12 years of heavy use. In practice, the students outgrow their Percussion Kit, rendering the xylo useless. I taught for almost a decade at LBJ MS and helped at other MS’s and HS’s as well; this problem was everywhere. The Joey’s Studio Percussion Kit solves that and then some. The extra keys keep the xylo useful throughout High School and College for Band Competitions.

What does my Middle School require in the Percussion Kit?

All band programs require a xylophone, practice pad, sticks, mallets, metronome, snare stand, and a beginner book. Click Here For Examples!
